    To apply, candidates must meet the following criteria:

    1. Educational Qualifications

    Candidates should hold a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree from a recognized university with a minimum of 60% marks in the relevant fields. Below are the branches and the corresponding educational requirements:

    Note: Candidates applying for the Education Branch must have 60% marks in Class X, XII, and in English in Class X or XII.

    2. Age Limit

    • General Service, Logistics, Technical Branches: Candidates should be born between 2nd July 2000 and 1st January 2006.
    • Pilot, Naval Air Operations, Air Traffic Controller: Candidates should be born between 2nd July 2001 and 1st July 2006.

    Age Relaxation: Available for certain categories such as NCC certificate holders and Merchant Navy personnel (details available in the official notification).

    Selection Process

    The selection process consists of multiple stages:

    1. Shortlisting of Applications

    • Marks Normalization: The marks obtained in your qualifying degree will be normalized using the formula provided on the Indian Navy website. Candidates in their final year can apply but must meet the criteria before June 2025.
    • BE/B.Tech candidates: Marks up to the fifth semester will be considered for shortlisting.
    • Postgraduate candidates: Marks for all semesters will be considered.

    2. SSB Interview

    Shortlisted candidates will be notified via email/SMS to attend the Services Selection Board (SSB) interview. The interview will be conducted in two stages:

    • Stage I: Officer Intelligence Rating (OIR) test, Picture Perception, and Discussion Test.
    • Stage II: Psychological testing, group tasks, and personal interview.

    Candidates who pass Stage II will undergo a medical examination as per Indian Navy standards.

    3. Medical Examination

    SSB-recommended candidates must meet the medical standards set for their respective branches. Details on medical standards can be found on the Indian Navy website.

    Training Details

  • Training Location: Indian Naval Academy (INA), Ezhimala, Kerala
  • Rank at Joining: Sub Lieutenant
  • Probation Period: 2 years (3 years for NAIC Officers). The probation period starts from the date of joining and extends until successful completion of training.
  • Tenure of Service

    The Short Service Commission (SSC) is granted initially for 10 years, which can be extended up to a maximum of 14 years based on service requirements and performance.

    Salary and Benefits

    Pay Scale:

    • The starting basic pay for Sub Lieutenants is Rs. 56,100/- per month.

    Officers are entitled to various allowances depending on their branch and duty, including:
