Selection Process
Application Submission: Apply online at www.joinindianarmy.nic.in between 14 Feb and 15 Mar 2025.
Shortlisting: Based on graduate percentage (cut-off decided by the Army).
SSB Interview: Five-day process in May/June 2025 at Selection Centres in Prayagraj, Bhopal, Bengaluru, or Jalandhar.
Medical Examination: For candidates recommended by SSB.
Merit List: Based on SSB performance, age, and academic marks (in case of ties).
Joining Letter: Issued to medically fit candidates within the vacancy limit.
Training and Career Progression
Training: 49 weeks at OTA, Chennai, starting October 2025. Cadets receive a Post Graduate Diploma in Defence Management and Strategic Studies from the University of Madras upon completion.
Rank Progression:
Lieutenant: On commissioning
Captain: After 2 years
Major: After 6 years
Lieutenant Colonel: After 13 years
Higher ranks (Colonel and above): Selection-based
Salary: Starts at ₹56,100-1,77,500 (Level 10) as a Lieutenant, plus Military Service Pay (MSP) of ₹15,500/month and various allowances (e.g., Siachen Allowance up to ₹53,125/month).

1. Is there age relaxation for reserved categories?
No, the age limit is 19–25 years for all candidates (born between 2 July 2000 and 1 July 2025). No relaxation is provided for reserved categories.
2. Can final-year students apply?
Yes, final-year students can apply if they have secured 50% aggregate marks in previous years. However, they must submit proof of passing the degree exam by 1 October 2025.
3. Is a provisional NCC ‘C’ Certificate acceptable?
No. Only a valid NCC ‘C’ Certificate with ‘B’ Grade issued before the application date is accepted. Provisional certificates are rejected at the SSB stage.
4. What documents are required for wards of battle casualties?
Battle Casualty Certificate (issued by MP Dte/Regimental Records).
Relationship Certificate.
Part II Order notifying the parent’s classification as a battle casualty.
5. What is the SSB interview process?
The 5-day SSB includes:
Stage I: Screening (intelligence test and picture perception).
Stage II: Psychological tests, group tasks, and personal interview.
6. Where can I check medical standards?

7. Can married candidates apply?
No. Candidates must be unmarried at the time of application. Marriage during training leads to immediate discharge and repayment of training costs.

Lieutenant Colonel: After 13 years.
9. Can I extend my service beyond 10 years?
Yes. Officers can extend their tenure up to 14 years. Permanent Commission is also possible after 10 years, subject to eligibility.
