The Space Applications Centre (SAC), Ahmedabad, a leading center under the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO), is offering exciting opportunities for Junior Research Fellows (JRFs) and Research Associates (RAs) to contribute to pioneering space technology projects. SAC focuses on designing spaceborne instruments and operationalizing space technology to serve societal needs, with applications ranging from communication and navigation to disaster monitoring, environment management, and much more.

  • 1. Junior Research Fellows (JRFs)

    SAC is inviting applications for the following JRF positions across various fields:

    • Geophysics/Applied Geophysics/Geology/Applied Geology (3 posts)
    • Physics/Mathematics (8 posts)
    • Marine Biology/Marine Geophysics (2 posts)
    • Geo-informatics/Remote Sensing/Geospatial Technology (6 posts)

    2. Research Associates (RAs)

    • Physical Oceanography (2 posts)
    • Atmospheric Science (1 post)

Eligibility Criteria:

  • Educational Qualifications:

    1. For Junior Research Fellows (JRFs):

      • Candidates must hold an M.Tech or equivalent degree with at least 60% marks (or 6.5 CGPA on a 10-point scale) or an M.Sc. or equivalent degree with 65% marks (or 6.84 CGPA) in relevant subjects such as Geophysics, Geology, Physics, Mathematics, Marine Biology, Remote Sensing, etc.
      • Additionally, candidates must have qualified NET/GATE or equivalent national-level exams (e.g., exams conducted by CSIR, DBT, ICAR, IITs, etc.).
    2. For Research Associates (RAs):

      • Candidates must hold a Ph.D. in a relevant field such as Physical Oceanography or Atmospheric Science.
      • Alternatively, an M.E. or M.Tech degree with 60% marks and 3 years of research experience in areas like oceanography, numerical weather forecasting, or satellite data analysis.

Age Limit:

  • For JRFs: Maximum age limit is 28 years as of 7th October 2024.
  • For RAs: Maximum age limit is 35 years as of 7th October 2024.

Age relaxation:

  • 5 years for SC/ST candidates.
  • 3 years for OBC-NCL candidates.

Salary and Benefits:

  1. unior Research Fellows (JRFs):

    • First two years: ₹37,000 per month + House Rent Allowance (HRA).
    • Subsequent years: ₹42,000 per month + HRA.
  2. Research Associates (RAs):

    • RA-1: ₹58,000 per month + HRA.
    • RA-2: ₹61,000 per month + HRA.
    • RA-3: ₹67,000 per month + HRA.

Additional Benefits:

  • Medical benefits for the individual (self) as per ISRO/GOI norms.
  • Fellowship amount will be considered as basic pay for determining benefits.
